Your thoughts on BM5000/520 and Kershaw Skyline.

I'm thinking of getting a Benchmade 5000/520 and I already have a Skyline in Orange G10. What do you think about them? Is the auto 5000 good in the world of autos (about which I know almost nothing, and it may not even be legal for me to own). I know they are quite different in terms of use and design, but I want to consolidate my threads. Does anyone's thumb also get caught by the flipper when closing the Skyline like mine does?

I love the skyline it makes about the perfect EDC knife in my mind.....I dont have the problem with the thumb and flipper when closing at all. I trying to collect all the skyline models now

Can't speak to the 5000, but I really like the Skyline. It's one of my favorite EDC blades. It carries and handles comfortably, and the thin hollow grind makes for a wicked slicer. That, and it's flippin' addictive to fondle. ;) If your thumb is getting caught by the flipper while closing at first, no worries. As you get used to the knife, that'll correct itself.

If you aren't sure about legality, get a BM 520, I used to carry one and I loved it. I have a Skyline in my pocket as I type. It is a wonderful light weight EDC with a really big, wide blade for it's size.

I can't speak for the Skyline as I'm not much of a fan. Too small and light for my taste, but I have an unassisted Presidio and I love everything about it. I'd absolutely carry it over the Skyline. Your tastes may vary, of course.

Have the auto 5000 and the folder 520.

Two of my favorite knives.

Strong, well built and I like the directional scales for grippiness.

The presidio series of BM knives is my favorite; to include the mini series.

Don't think you will be disappointed.
