I am considering ordering a new EDC and the Mini Emerson in spear point is one of my candidates. I looked at one several months ago and it seemed to be very strong with a decent lock and a beefy blade. It wasn't particularly smooth in opening. I don't know if that would ease over time or with lubrication. I would appreciate knowing your opinions of this knife. Is there a better one that I should consider in that price range ($90). I have a Spyderco Delica and a CS Voyager that I like, but was looking for something different.
All opinions welcome.

You can get them cheaper than $90. Auctions on Ebay always have them as well as online stores.

everyone here is going to have a different opinion on what you should get but if you like the CQC7a then you should get it. I have a Mini CQC7B and it's a tough as hell small folder. there are other knives that would do the same job but I like the Emerson so that's why I use it. you definately can't go wrong buying one I think I got mine for $85 locally. it pretty much took the place of two other larger blades that I used at work. the Mini CQC7s are some rugged small folders and I would recommend them to anyone looking for this kind of thing.

If you like the mini 7, by all means get one. It's nice to see more and more designs offered in a smaller size.

My only objection to the CQC-7 is what I spent on it. It was a bonus from work, so it was kind of "play money", but I realized that I didn't feel comfortable carrying and using it the way it was intended.

IMO, they fulfill their intended purpose, which is to be durable cutting tools. It's like buying a tractor: you're not paying for "pretty", you're paying for durability, and the warranty that comes with it.
