Your throwers

Try a custom thrower. They can be found for substantially less than most custom knives and are well worth the price. If you can throw regular fixed blades well, I'm sure you'll have no problems with a custom set of throwers (they're a lot heavier, longer, and better designed than the Hibbens). Hope this helps. Have fun throwing!

I've been using a Cold Steel Panga machete. I got ~50% sticks today at 3 full turns, from about 33 feet. This was the first time I tried it from that far. The blade is a little thin, and will deform if you have a sloppy throw, but its soft and will deform back with hand pressure.

The main thing to look for, especially for a beginner, is a decent size. Most good throwers are 12-14" long and quite weighty. They're much easier to throw than the dinky little "throwers" most places carry.

Small size and short length means that they're much more sensitive to minor changes in grip, release, and so forth. Big and heavy is more forgiving.

I have a pair of (believe it or not!) large-size "Silver-Arrow" ripoffs I got from the good ol' Bud K catalogue for a total of 20 bucks. Hehe-couldn't reccomend anything else in the catalogue, though.

For good advice on all things thrown, including good sources for inexpensive knives.
