I need some insight on what khukuri would make a good substitute for a light machete. I was thinking 16" sirupati? I figure someone out there could steer me the right way. Thanks.

I agree Benny. For light chopping, I think the Sirupate would be fine.

To replace a machete it would be a good choice. This or a Kumar Kobra, Gelbu Special. Those that are called "dast blades".

Chainpuri or Chitlangi in my opinion are lighter than the Siru you might also think about the Gelbu or a Kobra as well these are all narrow blades that are great for brush. I have a 20" Siru that i like very much but it might be a little heavier than you want.
