I do not own a SOG but I find their designs quite interesting. Whats your opinion on QC? Can the Bowie/Trident/Scuba compete with, let´s say, Randall?

Hiya!

Technically this question should be answered by anyone who owns both Randall and Sog Knives.
I don't qualify!
But as a dedicated believer in superior Sog Knives quality, I can at least assure you that it is better made and built than some of the more establish American made production knives. You can't go wrong with any Sog product except that, if you use it in the wrong way!

If you haven't owned an Sog product before, aim for the Flagship Sog Bowie first and the Trident for actual use.
I doubt anyone here has any regrets about Sog as a whole.
It's simply the finest, sharpest and "bestest" looking blades on my list for top-production fix blades!

Krizzard. out.

Hi Pelle,

Thanks for your question. I, too, am not in a place to comment personally as an owner of both. There is no doubt that Randall knives are outstanding.

SOG's knives are high quality that does not disappoint. The Bowie, Trident, Scuba/Demo, Tomcat, Vision........Great designs, outstanding craftsmanship!

SOG quality? In a word: SUPERB. I have to say I have never been dissapointed with any SOG product I've owned. I can't say I have experience with all their knives, but SOG ranks up on the top along with the other "big guys" of specialty cutlery.

I haven't owned a Randall either... (hmm, nobody here seems to...), but any trouble I have had, (or stupid question) has been dealt with VERY quickly, generally by our fearless moderator.
I like the heavy, "quality" feel to the knives.
That's my humble opinion.:)

I own both Randall and SOG. Most of SOG's blades can compete with a Randall and all other custom knives for that matter...Sog is top quality!! especially the Bowie!:D

I have never owned a Randall.
I can say that the SOG products I own are top notch and the service has been great.
Gord.

I own many Randall knives and have used more than 20 different models in their product line. For pure cutting ability and quality of construction, I feel that my two SOG bowies have performed as well as any of the similar sized Randalls. I do like the Randall fingergrips better than the shallow SOG type and have modified my Trident to create deeper fingergrooves (see attached scan.) I also have used three SOG folding knives and I found each of them to be very good values and high performance products (I also modified two of the folders).
