what would you consider your weak points when it comes wilderness and survival skills. what skills would you like to improve and become more proficient at.

personally i don't think you can have too much experience or practice at being able to start a fire under any circumstances at any time.

i'd like to work on my land navigation skills both with and without a map/compass.

Definitely map and compass. I've been lucky enough to grow up surrounded by wilderness and after 15 years in the city, moved back to 10 acres right across the road from my childhood home. I have never needed to use maps or compasses around here since I always knew where I was. Unfortunately, that leaves me lacking if I end up lost somewhere else. I'm always trying to improve firemaking skills, shelter skills, everything.... One can never be too good at bushcraft skills, and it's fun to practice!

I should really improve on my First Aid skills. CPR and the like.

I grew up with a military father, and learned alot about maps, topo and the like. And I practice bushcraft and tracking and all around survival, but like Steve said, first aid skills I know I lack at, I can set a leg and do cpr, but I feel I just dont know enough about it. Also water purification, I would like to learn ALOT more about it, I know some but I would like to know alot more. But it seems the more I think I know about stuff the less it turns out I really do.

Fishing and cordage are my weak points. Fortunatly I'm pretty good at plant identification in my area. And I need to learn to start a fire with a bow or hand drill. Just so freaking HARD....

Seriously? ALL of them.

I've never convinced myself I'm adequately trained, prepared, or experienced for anything! Realistically, it's probably primative technology.

I would have to join the chorus and say first-aid. Interesting that the subject should arise, as I've been looking for a spring semester adult-ed class to rectify the matter.
