Well, I used to be a Traditional guy and just carried slip joints of the Case, Queen, or Schrade variety. Then it all changed in 2011. It all started a while back when a friend gave me an OD-1. I placed it in the safe and forgot about it. Then, in October, I went to a flea market. At the flea market I found three Kershaw's at a booth, two scallions and a Packrat serrated. I picked the three up for 40 bucks. I hadn't really even thought of buying any Kershaws. So, I got on the forums and started reading the Kershaw forum, and began my love of Kershaws. Then, the next weekend, I went back and found some more. This time I picked up two Tanto Blurs and a Shallot for 50 bucks. I thought well why not try another weekend. So, I went back again. This time I found an orange Zing, another scallion, an Oso Sweet, a Mini Cyclone serrated and a G10 S30V Leek. I asked about a package deal for the whole group. The young fella running the booth started getting on his phone internet to see what each was worth. I offered him 75 bucks, and he took it. So, I ended up with 11 Kershaws that all looked unused with the factory edges for about 15 bucks a piece. I couldn't believe my luck in finding them!!!!
In the meantime I found the OD-1 in the safe and pulled it out to start using it. And, I found a G10 Speed Bump on the auction site and bought it before I learned they were selling cheaper on Amazon. So, for 2011 I ended up with 13 Kershaws, and a LOVE for going to the flea market!!!
My kiddo's got a Kershaw each in the stocking for Christmas. Mitch and Matthew got the two Blurs. My daughter, Michelle, got the Shallot. And, I really felt like I had some really good fortune, and learned so much from the folks here on the forum that I did a give away for the new year. And, hopefully, that give away will start a passion for Kershaw's in each of the kids that are receiving Kershaw knives from it.
So, 2011 has been a VERY good year for me with Kershaw, and the Kershaw forum. I'm hooked on Kershaw. And, I plan on buying some more when I'm able. My goal for 2012 is to buy a ZT. I'm not sure how long it will take cause they are more than I can typically spend from my budget. But, it's sure on my want list. I'm not sure which one yet. But, I really like them all from the pics and stuff I'm reading. I still haven't seen on in person. But, I know I'll love it when I do.
