Any Black Owl Outdoors fans here? I like these guys and their youtube channel. Tonight they just released a video about a sheath mod using leather for the bk24/24 to add a fire steel loop and make it possible to belt carry. Enjoy!

The 24 (and 16). Is my favourite blade. Bloody brilliant mod. Brilliant due to its simplicity and functionality. Gotsa have one. Cheers for the link.

What a great idea. I've been using Chicago screws from Tandy for a while for sheaths and holsters, and even knife scales. Thanks for sharing.

Since there is rain in the forecast today, I think I will try making one of these along with some other projects that need to be finished.

The sheath that comes with the BK14 dulls the knife edge, and is fairly wide. You're better off buying a custom sheath for it instead, just my two cents.

I saw this video last Monday, rushed to try it on my ZT 0121 then forgot all about it :D Didn't post anything because there was no Becker content in my mod. Great minds think alike Silver Needle!

Here was the quick one I did up with some scrap leather and wax thread stitching. I'm no pro, but it works  been using it all week long.

Dry-cell, I've only heard about dulling issues with the old, hard bk2 sheath. I was surprised the 14/24 has the same issue. I think there might be a new standard sheath for these blades, so hopefully Kabar addressed the issue.

TBL, how'd you see this video a week before me?! I like your work and I'm glad your mod has been working well!

Looks like a very comfortable way to carry your knife with a Sheath like that.!** Will have to look into having one made also.**

That's a cool mod for sure. I've got a spare sheath kicking around; just gotta find some leather somewhere...

As far as I know, the dulling issue has been taken care of? My daughters old sheath (smooth coated 14) kinda dulled the blade a bit; my 11 with the newer coating doesn't affect the edge at all. I think the newer sheaths with the lock on them are softer still.

Can't wait to try this out. On my "to do" list for sure.

I don't really know because the posted date on the video said yesterday. I do drugs. I remember seeing it or something extreamly similar, and then going out and making one hah.

Regarding the sheath, you can test out on your own, take a look at the YouTube video by virtuovice. If the sheath doesn't dull your edge, then disregard what I said. I had bought my BK14 back in late September of 2014, and it was dulling the knife edge if not taken out very carefully. At the moment, I have the sheath store away inside it's original box.

Maybe it was old stock? I purchased a new 24 and 11 some time ago and they didn't have the issue the sheath of my 14 had when I bought that a few years ago

Hahahaha, yeah drugs can do that =)

Yeah you could be right, you never know with Amazon.ca.

I don't have any experience with it, personally. Hope that issue is solved with new stock!
