Check out the Hawk Talk page at www.americantomahawk.com and click on the downloadable video to see our friend, forumite, and customer, Louis Buccellato, owner of The Martial Way, throwing our Rogers' Rangers Spike Hawk into a stump at over 50'!

He sent me an MPEG of a toss at 71' as well, just after I got the 50' MPEG prepared for our site. He is going for 80' soon!!! He makes it look easy.

Bobby and I are considering rotor cuff surgery from trying to do this ourselves since Lou sent us the MPEG!

Let's here it for Louis!!!!! Great Job!!!!

BOY, that guy sure get a lot of "lift". That looks like one of the throws done by "THE PATRIOT"!

I am lucky to get my Light Infantry hawk to stick at approx. 13"...usually wind up with the handle sticking in the grass! :<(

I wonder if my crate opener will fly that far..

Thanks for the comments, guys,

Andy, thanks for posting the mpeg, it looks awesome. I can't say enough how awesome this 'hawk is! It's weight and balance make it such a pleasure to throw. I can't wait to get the poll 'hawk when it comes out. With it's lighter weight I will probably be able to throw at 100' or so

we will see.

Can you hit from free range at that distance, Louis? (I mean, for example, can you be walking along, find a tree that's about fifty feet, and fire it in; or do you need to set up?) I ask because I'm working on learning to judge range on the fly myself. If you've got any pointers they'd be appreciated.

Doc,

At ranges up to 36' I can do a pretty good job at estimating and free throwing. I can do it occasionally at 50' but it is much tougher. The only pointer I can give is, when free throwing, picture your regular target area and compare it to the target you are currently looking at and see if the visual distance looks about right. You will find out that you are usually never off by more than a step back or forward.
