Just received my first Spyderco - a Fred Perrin fixed blade. Man, this is a knife!:D This is definitely the sharpest knife OOTB I've ever seen. I've had several knives come shaving sharp but this thing literally makes the hairs pop off my arm. I just hope I can maintain that edge when it's time to resharpen. Cosmetically, the knife is almost perfect. I say almost because the grind at the base of the ricasso is just a hair off on the left as you look at the blade edge up. The grip is very comfortable and just the right size. My hand naturally assumes a saber grip when I hold it. The sheath is nice and well made but will release the knife if you give it a hard shake. The teklok is ok but this knife begs to be carried IWB - have to do something about that.
I have to put in a good word about the online retailer I purchased from - www.Discountknives.com. I ordered Thursday night and it arrived with the mail today - so kudos to the USPS Priority mail, too. Discount Knives also honored their 10% price guarantee, too, even though the lower price I found beat theirs by only one cent!

I, too, got my first spydie today. My right forearm is now bald.

I got a little carried away, but damn is this sharp! Plain edge, blue handle Delica....anything special about these, or do all spydies cut through everything?

Now you know why Spydies are addictive!!!

 Beware of the Spydie virus....

Three shoeboxes full of Spyderco knives and I added 3 more (two Matriarchs and a Spyderkey) this weekend.
Yes, collecting Spyderco knives is VERY addictive.

They all cut through everything.

I drop by the factory outlet every so often, and I can never stay as long as I like. I invariably cut myself *just the tinest bit* and I have to leave before I flood the place with my blood.

Funny thing about Spyderco: lots of folks start out their serious knife addiction with Spydies, expand on to other brands, and then wind up contracting to a mainly Spydie collection. I sure did.

BTW, check out the Lum Chinese Folder. It's pretty much a razor blade in a nice package.

Shmackey - thank you for the suggestion. I understand vampiric spyderco blades, and have had significantly the same experience with a Police model when I was younger - it never closed without drawing fresh blood.

I had no idea it would be this sharp out of the box. It's impressive, to say the least.

How many people can stop after buying just one Spyderco???? I sure couldn't!!!

p.s. One model with a reputation for biting - the Matriarch!

Just got my Spyderco Wegner and my second Calypso Jr. in the mail today. Love em both.

My all around favorite company. Great product range, new materials, new designs all the time, customer service is second to none. I have carried many, many brands. The knife I carry more than any other and must always have on me is a Spyderco! Of course. Congrats on the Delica.

I can vouch for that. Traded for a used one (my first Spydie). Lubed it up real good and pressed the lockbar. Thing swung shut onto my index finger's first knuckle. Still have a little scar and tenderness there and that was 5 months ago! Now I have 5 spydies and my collection is hungry for more.

I haven't purchased one that didn't cut like a razor out of the box.

Started out with a G2 Endura ~11 years ago, and the addiction continues - just picked up another Native and got my first compression lock Spydie - a Vesuvius.

Got to try a fixed blade Spydie...
