I recently traveled the Yukon and White Pass Railway into the Klondike in Scagway, Alaska.
The railroad offered a "Yukon Railway Spike Knife" by Pearce made out of a polished railway spike.
It's about 10 inches long with almost a persian-style uplifted tip blade that looks more like a big steak knife!
Polished nicely..fairly sharp...but thin blade.
Anybody ever hear about these, and is it anything more than an Alaska Oddity for tourists?
Did see a beautifull Gaetan Beauchamp (?) folder in Anchorage or Juneau..should have bought it!
Lots of antlered, high-polished sheath knives, and lost of faux-ivory scrimshaw folders. Lots of Ulu's, and a few Knives of Alaska sets.
Lots of cruise ships warnings too, knives not welcome aboard..please ship them home!
