well i've been browsing around to figure out my next major knife purchase which will come after i get my hands on a kershaw tilt. im looking for a folder now and the yuna mini hard 1 is the one i keep comming back to drool over. it is a bit expensive imo for the size, but the materials, workmanship and just pure look overall are stunning. is anyone here lucky enough to have one? if so, show a pic if possible, i' like to get some ideas going for my own. also, what do you think of it overall...is it worth the price? also, if you have any other suggestions or makers with a similar "out of the box" sort of style, feel free to let me know! thanks in advance!

Both Mini Hard-1's. The top one is standard with polished blade, orange g-10, carbon fiber bolster, and a large forward choil. The bottom one is a Type-S with bead blasted blade, solid red g-10 scale, and small choil.

These are two of my favorite knives and I love to carry them. I don't feel they are expensive for their size as the Mini is actually a great EDC and is not overly large. Just right for every day carry. In fact, I think that Yuna's knives are a great bargain for the overall quality and craftsmanship that goes into them. I plan on getting a full size Hard-1 or 2, but next will be an Assassin for sure.

those look great! im still trying to figure out if i like the idea of the big choil or not on a smaller knife. it does reduce the cutting edge but alternatively you get a better grip i'm sure. is the type s worth getting over the regular? its just more beefy right?

The large choil is nice, but not really necessary. Have you had a chance to handle a Mini Hard-1? I think that you may think it is smaller than it actually is. I've got pretty big hands and the Mini Hard-1 fits my hand rather nicely. The Type-S is beefier all around. The blade, Ti lockside, Ti liner, G-10 (I think), and the pivot are all larger. While I do like the idea of the thicker Type-S if I was going to be doing some serious hard use, I find that the standard size is just right for my every day needs.

I like the looks of Mini Hard 2. Mini 1 is a bit too much of a fighter for me.
I have nothing against big choils, but would suggest getting Yuna with a small choil. Handle on mini hard is quite big and comfortable. Yuna's 3" mini hard with a small choil really feels like a 3.5" knife.
I would go for regular instead of Type S, because regular is quite beefy as it is.

unfortunately i have not had a chance to handle one yet..i'd love to before dropping the money on one to be sure i know what i'll be getting. i know its not going to be a chive or anything but i get a general idea from pics/videos. then again, having it in hand gives you the perfet idea.:D

thanks for the input. judging by my own findings and the suggestions from you and Tony, i think i'd be getting the regular.

Well, where in NY are you located? You might be able to handle one depending on where you live. There is a monthly meeting (usually) in New Jersey that I go to and the Yunas are usually with me.

Jersey is not too far from me. i live about 10-15 minutes out of manhattan. i'd love to be able to handle one. i dont know if i'd be able to make it though. my weekends are usually booked solid. when is the meeting/ do you know yet?

Usually the third Sunday of the month. I live in Rockland. Don't know how far it is from you, but I'm always up to meet a fellow knife knut for a blade show and tell.

i'll put a big vote in for the large choil! really nice to have for precise work, and i never miss the .25" of edge (on a full-size)

This is a tough choice, both knifes are so cool. I'm going to vote for the small choil, only because it will give you more useable blade length.

Nice pics and knives as usual Tony, you got quite the nice collection going buddy.

yes, from what i've seen Tony has a very nice collection! i'm with you on the idea of having a larger cutting surface but as ExMachina said, the bigger choil gives more control....i'll see what others have to say. thanks for the input!
