Hey all,

I've been eying both the Yuna (likely Hard series or Assassin) and the Hinderer XM18 as I've heard great things about both. I was hoping to get some thoughts or comparisons about how they stack up. I currently have a couple darrel ralphs, have had my fair share of striders and also a few sebenzas along the way. Just looking for the next one.

Purpose would likely be EDC, nothing too crazy but a great functional and aesthetic knife.

I like them Yunas. The laminated steel is cool and the designs are funky.
Can't speak to the f&f as I've never handled one, but they look well thought out. Seems like a lot more goes into them than most tactical folders.

The Yuna Hard 1 is attractive. I especially like the options available including thicker parts and a variety of scales to choose from. My only problem is that I am loath to send $500 to Thailand sight unseen. I certainly wish that someone here carried his line and/or served as an intermediary in the process.

i don't think you mean to imply what you are implying...however, it does prompt me to say that Yun is a straight arrow and is as honest and conscientious a craftsman as you will ever find.

i had no qualms about entrusting Yun w/ my knife order and he not only delivered, he delivered in advance of when he promised.

+1 to that  i would happily front up the full amount in advance to Yun.In my experience the fit and finish are second to none, every detail perfect.

my opinion: Hinderer's are over-priced and kind of boring (probably just seen too many of them)

OTOH, a yuna is going to be pretty much one of a kind (it's hand-made, in the most literal sense of the word) plus Yun's designs are varied, distinct but they are functional too.

the downside?--well, i did end up with something closer to a work of art than i had planned. my first yuna--which i had fully intended to carry--has still seen very little use just cuz it's so pretty ;)

I Have been burned by more people from the USA than all my dealings in Asia. Location Means nothing.

I like both knives...but the Yuna gets the top vote.

I believe I bought the first knife Yun sold here on the forums (and some since) :D His knives are not only incredibly well built, but wonderfully out of the box designed!

Also Yun's communication skills AND ship times are better than *most* of the makers I have dealt with here in the states.

Really great knives!
