Guys, I am contemplating my first full custom.
It has to be Yuna QI 3 or 4.
apart from the price difference the 4 is humongous although it seems to be more popular and I really like it (especially the blade shape). Would be nice to see some comparison pics of either of those two models next to more common knives.
Also, debating hole or no hole (if I choose smaller QI3)?
For those who have ordered from him before is there a difference in price for M390 v pure ZDP-189?
Any input, opinions, suggestions (IE handle materials) are welcome.

Qi3 and Qi4 are so much difference in size, the 3 has 3" edge while another has 4". I whould suggest you to get the QI4 or take a look on Hard series. I have talked to Yun oftenly since I'm also from Thailand. He said Hard2 and Qi4 are the two most popular model.

Now he offering variety of both blade and handle material. His CF laminated with G10 is awesome. He additional charge 100$ for ZDP-189 blade steel so I think you better stick to M390 since its should have better edge holding, better stain resistance and also cheaper. Lightning strike carbon fiber while looking cool it just a bad idea, its insanely expensive and the wire will expose and oxidation when you use it.

I don't have any experience with Yuna.

That being said, I would go for the 3. It will likely see more pocket time due to its size. If you like pocketing a knife that big then go for it.

I also do not like zdp and would pick m390 over it any day.

As far as the hole vs no hole, I hate it when flippers have an alternate opening method. Its like, do you want a flipper or not, pick one. But that's just a personal thing and it may not bother you.

I would advise you to go with whichever one you think you will USE more and CARRY more. I have my custom Voorhies in my pocket right now and can't imagine not wanting to carry it due the size, etc.

Thanks for the wise words. I have decided to go with 3" version.
Guess not too many folks here have an opinion on Yuna.

Thanks for the advice; I did just that but so far no one cared to share an opinion

how long does it take you to get a response from Yuna once you send him an order through an email (did it yesterday)?

I'll just say I wish I had more (any) experience with a Yuna. They're frikkin' gorgeous and I've read they're super smooth with ridiculous quality and attention to detail.

anyone get in touch with Yuna with an order recently. Still curious how long it took him to respond to your email?

I'm just trying to get an order in. How long does it take for him to RESPOND to an an email order?

Yun might get right back to you, he may wait a month to get back to you. I received my first Yuna last month after a 20 month wait. Now it's a 28 month wait. Communication isn't his strong suit, but his knife building is!
