OK, I've got between $700 and $1,000 to spend,. I'm seriously into gents knives (office environment), engraved folders, ironwood fixed blades, etc. I'm really into knives by Pease, Osborne, Bradshaw, and similar makers. Do what should I do?

You have a fantastic problem:thumbup: . It'll be awhile until I will seriously look into that market, but it'll be interesting to see what experienced people suggest...

I voted for save and go over 1K. your options open up even more. Play the field as it were and find exactly what you want, hay it might not take 1k to do that but if you have over 1k your not limited to just under 1k.

Yeah, but if you purchased a EDC knife that was worth more than a grand (or more, would you really put it to use? Especially in the working environment you are in? If you were only opening envelopes or the occasionally box, a megabuck knife would be over the top and more for bling bling status.

For me, I could have blown my bucks on a megabuck knife but that was not where I wanted to be (I'm also in an office environment). Instead, I've purchased a few Chris Reeve knives like a few Sebenzas and a Shadow III. They are more practical and still have some flashiness to them. I also purchase a Bud Nealy necker which I really treasure and couple damascus knives. Then I have a Spyderco Manix which is my workhorse (but I am not afraid of using my other high quality knives just like what I do with my Manix).

After all I have written, I was thinking maybe you already have a sizable collection of knives since you are contemplating acquiring an expensive EDC knife. If so, take your time and chose wisely. There are so many to chose from. Maybe you could actually get a custom job done for you - a one off design just made for you.

somewhat Ironically you just missed the Cheasapeake Knife Show that happened sunday, which would have given you Just the chance to spend that money. Are you looking for a wait time? Do you want it now? Do you own many William Henrys, or Reeve Damascus Sebenzas? Also check out truenorthknives.com as they have alot of folders for sale.

I say keep saving and buy one of the really nice Pease stag lockback's I've been seeing on dealer sites lately.

If I was going to spend $700-$1000 bucks on a custom knife I would put an order in with Bill Ruple for an amber stag trapper exactly like the one below. (with filework)

Sounds like a solution in search of a problem...
