I'd been wanting to test out my NMFBM and see how it'd handle some heavy chopping, not just some green wood.

I had a birch tree that the top half broke off lord knows how long ago, and the tree was dead and very very hard. I figured now would be a good time to take it down once and for all.

I wish I had known what I was getting myself into. I'm home sick from work, they have a "no flu" policy because of all this swine flu garbage, so if I have a sneeze I have to stay home.

This freaking tree... where to begin? It's frozen, I hadn't planned on that.

It's harder than a rock, I also hadn't planned on that.

I hit up the knife on my sander after finding the factory edge wasn't working well. Didn't really do much, just convexed it a bit and polished it a little. It started to bite better. This tree was indestructable, it was so hard that it was standing upright on basically a twig by the time i was done.

I did manage to drop it down right on top of my dog fence, so that was good. I then chopped it in half with the blade, and decided since it's not a life and death situation, it'll wait for a chainsaw.

I really don't know how long i'm going to last with this coating, i'm already sick of looking at it.

Nice goin' there 230.....I really need to get myself a NMFBM. I just wish the LE's weren't so expensive!

I will say these hand shaped mags are AWESOME. My hand doesn't even hurt after chopping, no Busse pinky either.

230 How long did it take you to hack through that frozen tree? That should sweat that cold right out of you. Who needs a doctor when you've got a Busse NMFBM!!! :D

He Bro, she looks real good there hard at work  She needed a good beating :D

I chopped all out only take a second to take a couple pics for about 4 minutes, when I chopped it in half again it took me 6 minutes of chopping. She's a heavy beast to swing full on for 10 minutes, especially sick. I really hadn't anticipated it being frozen and half my swings glancing.

I have hit really hard dead trees before, might as well swing a baseball bat at it.... LOL I am curious too how long it took you to drop it

It's frustrating when you're swinging as hard as you possibly can and you just hear a "clang" instead of it biting.

Good going!! Here in Oklahoma it seems like all the downed trees around campsites are petrified. Lots of "clangs."

I decided that I'll chop stuff 5" diameter and smaller, and use the bow-saw for the bigger stuff.

Dang. If a NMFBM can't take care of business, I don't know what else could. JDAM maybe. My NMFBM is the most beastly chopper I've ever used- barring an axe. Felling that tree looks like a chore for sure.

It would have been a lot easier to use a shotgun on the tree than a knife.
I haven't done that in a while. HUGE FUN! Thanks for the inadvertent reminder. I'm going to be doing that soon. Grats on the NMFBM.

I've shot a few trees down, I shot one down with a shotgun, one with an AK and one with an AR15. Only one was intentional, the other two were unlucky backers for my targets.

I know what you mean about motivation. The sun needs to start coming out for longer:D
