A while back some of y'all may recall me complaining about this 18" AK that despite my best efforts I was unable to get right. Yvsa volunteered to try it.
I just got it back today and man, what an edge. Shaves from tip to cho. I took it out and chopped through an 8" pine and it actually bit in and threw wood instead of bouncing off like it did before. When I was done I went in, stropped it a little and it shaved again! He totally overhauled the edge till it is really even and easy to sharpen.
In addition he polished out the butt cap and put this nice little bevel there right before the butt cap that looks totally cool. Also he did a number on the cho that makes it beautiful and artistic looking. ALSO he buffed the thing. It was stained from use. I can't describe how nice the finish he put on the blade. It isn't quite the shiny mirror finish that gets scuffed up easy, yet it's shinier than satin. I don't think I have ever had one with that nice of a finish on the blade.
So I thank him of course but I think maybe we need to pay for him to learn Nepalese and send him over to tutor the kamis for a couple weeks. If he could get them to put an edge like this on them and make the cho truly beautiful like this one it would be a wonderful thing.
Hey, I'm off work tomorrow. If I take some pix can somebody post them for me. You need to see this cho.
