Sounds like I may have given someone offense. If I have I appologize. Please advise what "reputation" is....is it a good thing or a bad thing. If it is competitive in nature, I wasn't/ am not competing. If I am throwing my two sense worth in to too many threads, please say so. You might assume correctly that retired narcotic agents tend not to socialize overmuch, and that my ignorance may be showing.
 
What is the most important thing to understand about the reputation points system?

It really doesn't matter much, except possibly to newbies, and even the newbies probably don't pay any more attention to it than to post count and join date. Once people get to know you they'll decide for themselves how much weight to give your opinion anyway.

You can't take it with you.

Some of my favorite folks have very few green buttons. Bill the Cat keeps begging for red ones....

Jurasic- I don't know what happened with the rep points, but you might email Yvsa if something is bothering you.

I missed it, whatever it is -was.

The reason I posted that was too let you know I tried to give you some more positive rep points and the web-bot wouldn't let me.:grumpy: Go to the top of any post or thread and on the left hand side you will see, "USER CP" which is your personal command post where you can go to change your email address if you change it, your password, avatars, and anything to do with your personal account here on BFC.​
When you first go to the CP on the right hand side of the page it will show how many points you have and if they are signed, who gave them to you. I always sign my rep points whether positive or negative. If you were on my sh*t list you would know it. I'm pretty blunt that way.;)​
I wasn't dinging you with negative points but with positive ones because you had made me laugh again.:D You have 50+ points so others besides me have given you positive points.:D :cool: :D​
I'm sorry I should have clarified that in the post but you fit so well here it seems like you've been here long enough to know.;)​

Well, I learned something from this exchange. Didn't know about the green bean-things.

The first couple made me blink. "What? Who doesn't like Benelli shotguns? How can this be?"

If somebody doesn't sign their negative rep points, they are sin cojones and unheard.

Gray is not necessarily negative. It just means the giver does not have enough "power" to affect your rating. It could be a positive note, as I understand it.
