Z-FinNit From Zapp Tooling, not NASA

Hey Blade Forums, I saw on knife maker Mike Snody's Facebook page he's starting to use a new steel called Z-FinNit. If you're a fellow knife maker, or if you're just into high-performance knives and have purchased tool steel, Zapp Tooling may have come across your radar. Z-FinNit, pronounced z-finite (b/c they're cool like that), is a new stain-proof steel they've "developed." They claim it's supposed to be completely rust and corrosion resistant, and can be forged without any resulting micro-fracturing, unlike 440-C. They're in the process of updating their sales website to include information about this new steel. Sounds like it could be an ideal steel for cutlery used in wet environments.

I just wanted to share this information to keep it real. I mean, the 'Z' in Z-FinNit gave it away that it's from Zapp Tooling, not NASA.

Zapp makes Z wear, a good powder steel in the Vascowear/Cruwear/PD#1 class. They are worth watching.

Just got my first knife with this blade steel and so far have been very impressed with it. I know this is an old thread but does anyone know where to find some more research or reviews of the steel being used as blade steel by chance?

Kinda of late in the game but i am a waiting 10 z-wear knives back from Peters and am ordering some z-finite for making a couple kitchen knives. I only have production s30v stainless knives to compare it to but it sounds promising.
I saw on Alpha and talked with Brad at Peters but so far 59RC was the max hardness they got even though Zapp states it can make 62-63rc. Probably need to experiment with it being nitrogen based?? Oh well I should have some cutting in the next 2-3 months.
