I just ordered one of these and am wondering about its longevity. I've done some research and from what I've read it seems that the torch type lighters don't last very long (2 years usually?). However, the Blazer Micro Torches seem to have a good record. So my question is if the z-plus is made in the same way as the micro torch--similar parts, design, etc, so we can get an idea of the longevity of a relatively new torch.

I've had my Z-Plus for the past 9 months. Still going strong. No problems with ignition except for the first few days I had it. I learned to bend the ignition wire a little closer to the flame nozzle so that the spark gap is bridged better. The design is essentially the same as that of the Micro Torch as far as the torch mechanism and function goes. Output seems to be the same, too. Flame adjustment for the Z-Plus is at the bottom while the Micro Torch is to the side of the nozzle. The Z-Plus is cheaper than a Micro Torch and I think it is better protected from dirt and debris in a Zippo case than a Micro Torch is with the plastic cap it comes with. I used to have to clean our my long since kaput Micro Torch every week. Hope that helps.

If you mean does the Zippo case itself still click open and closed, then the answer is "yes".
