Hello y'all
As many of y'all know. I posted a thread on what to get. A umnumzaan or a strider . I chose the Zaan. I'm very happy I did . I said I'd post my thoughts after I took her to work . So after 2 weeks of heavy work ,tearing down thick giant gondolas and every thing else you can imagine . Here's my thoughts . She's a real winner ,smooth as silk and fast as lightning. I can thumb flick her out as fast as my pm2 . The lock disengagement is super smooth . Actually easier that my 21 . I was worried about that because of the semi sharp edge on the lock bar . One thing I noticed is after you open the knife and are using it , putting pressure on the lock bar, it moves over a bit . Probably because of the ball . I've heard it said that the ball isn't supposed to roll in the socket . Mine does I think it is supposed to , correct me if I'm wrong . No hot spots on the knife for me . Very comfortable and feels substantial in hand . The 21 feels like a lean mean cutting machine , the Zann feels like a bulldozer . Not as good of a pure slicer as the 21 , but it gets the job done . I really like the stone wash on the blade . The satin blade on my 21 has multiple scratches and takes finger prints like a mother . And the titanium handles on the 21 are smooth finish and are already scratched to hell . I have found a great use for that sharp swedge . As a tape splitter , saving the blade from tape gunk build up . A word of warning that I learned the hard way . I was using the swedge to split some tape and the knife closed on me . Just a minor cut . I was like damn , did this lock just fail? I realized what I had done , was put pressure on the lock bar and disengaged it . So if you do this be mindful of your finger placement. All in all I love this knife and look forward to many years of using her . And passing her down someday . The only negative thing I can say about her . Is she's not a 21 , ha ha lol ... for now the 21 remains top dog my perfect edc . But the Zaan is a hell of a knife and holds her own . My main work knife will remain my pm2 because of ease of opening and closing . I open and close my knives 20-50 times a day at work ...
