I am the original owner of a 2017 Umnumzaan. Out of box, it would not open. Not a technique thing... you couldn’t open it with two hands. I stuck with it, and broke it in. But honestly, it was never perfect. Centering never seemed right. Also, when I closed it, it seemed almost squishy, and it felt like I could actually push the blade one more step into a deeper closed position. I chalked it up to some give from the o rings. The pivot was also far more fidgety than my inkosi.
I had it apart this morning, and decided to reassemble with the stand off in the position reserved for the lanyard pin.
With this one change, centering is fixed, opening lockup is more consistent, and that squishy close has disappeared. I brushed those issues aside for three years, and they are now thankfully gone. And it is subjective, but I think the look is a little better.
The knife went from good to great. Just a PSA in case anyone is having similar issues from a C17 Zaan.
