So I get a shipment here at work that is two big crates banded onto a pallet. The banding is that big 1/2" stuff, not the smaller 3/8's. Well it's gotta come off. One guy runs to look for a set of side cuts, but I pull out my ZDP Cyclone and before he gets back, I've cut all six bands (this package weighed 680 lbs) and was pulling them off the pallet.

A bit later, I looked at the blade and it's just as I thought it would be. Hardly any dulling of the blade. Check it out. I don't think I'd have tried this with too many other knives, although I've done it with a Buck 110 years ago.

YUP, tough stuff!!!!!
Kershaw done good with another one!

Nice! very brave, I did a similar thing with a buck 110 but it bent the
back spring, but the edge was unharmed too.

Congrats! and thanks for the images,

My god. I deal with those bands every night at work. They hold our stacks of ingots together. You are MUCH braver than I.

I use tin snips or twist/break with a pry bar or channel locks.

Truthfully, all you need to break them is to start a cut and twist it along that start cut.

Yeah, metal banding isn't really the biggest test for a knife, but I was still impressed with the Cyclone. The blade showed no wear or damage.

But, unfortunately I lost the knife yesterday. I was volunteering with the Div of Wildlife here in Colorado removing an old barb wire fence from a meadow. Deer and elk were getting hung up in the barb wire. The knife must have come unclipped from IWB.

Ticked me off. I liked the Cyclone so much that it became my main EDC.
Oh well, now I gotta get a new one.

Bad day for knives yesterday. I lost my CK&T Random Leek yesterday. We had a birthday party for my son who turned 4, and it fell out at Chuck E Cheese I guess; running around with the kids...

I had the safety engaged (99% sure) so it should be safe, and I hope an adult finds it and gives it a good home. Of course when I called up there, no one had found a damn thing! Now if Thomas will start shipping those PE Random Leeks, I can get whole again!

Yeah, why does it seem like you only loose the expensive/good knives. Not the beater/cheap ones?

Is there a difference between a "zdp cyclone" and a "cyclone"

Yes, the ZDP Cyclone is a mini-cyclone with a ZDP-189 steel blade and titanium frame-lock handle. The "regular" large and mini-cyclone have a Sandvik 13C26 blade and aluminum liner-lock handle.
About $100 more for the ZDP, but worth it!

By the way, only 3 posts in 10 months? I'll call you BIZARRO-OFFSETLOVER :D :p

Stick around and you'll understand why!

I read alot. By the way, I am really beginning to like this place.

In those 10 months I've bought a Tactical Blur, a Rat 3, a SOG Twitch XL, a Black Leek, a cyclone, and a Green Tanto M16 EDC.

This place is worse that candlepowerforums!!!
