Members,
I've never had Zelle or Venmo.
I don't have a mobile phone, never needed one.
I'm told you can only get Zelle on a mobile phone as there is an app you're supposed to download.
I haven't checked out the guidelines for Venmo yet.

So, my question is, are these cash transfer places good/reliable to do business through, or have any of you had problems with fraud or other problems when using them?
Also, are they only mobile phone friendly, or is there a way to join one of these two services, without a mobile phone, by just using my PC?

Thanks to All, for your time and for any info. you can provide.
Stay safe, birdave. (Joe)

I added Zelle to my online banking account about 4 or 5 years ago. I only use Zelle and do my online banking from my laptop, and have never used either via a mobile phone App. I've used Zelle approximately 30+ times or so over these years, with zero issues. As long as you fully trust the person you're dealing with, you should have no worries, however, if you make the mistake of dealing with a scammer, Zelle doesn't offer any buyer protection, so there's no recourse in regards to filing a claim, from what I've been told.

I would basically say that using Zelle, has the same risks as dealing with 90% of the seller's here on this forum who sell only offering PPFF as a payment method. Just be shrewd and know who you're dealing with. I typically make a call and have a man to man phone conversation with any person I'm sending funds doing high dollar transactions with. If they can't pick up a phone and talk man to man- then no dice. It's pathetic how many grown men are afraid to pick up a phone and actually speak with someone nowadays.

So basically, Zelle, is a safe way to transfer/receive funds via bank to bank, if used wisely.

Here's an example though:
A couple of months ago, I did a local FTF cash in hand transaction with a LEO with whom I met up with along the PCH not far from my home, a super nice guy. I had another knife on me that he really liked. He didn't have the the extra $6 Benjamin's in hand, so he sent me an instant payment on the spot to my Zelle account. Within a couple of minutes, I received an email notification on my phone from my Chase Bank, that this person's $600 had been electronically transferred into my checking account.

The Pros: No Fee's sending or receiving funds, instant fund transfer.

The Cons: No Buyer protection.

I hope this helps, Joe.

My first experience with Venmo was someone stealing $500 out of my bank account with it, and only my daily transaction limit kept them from cleaning me out completely (yes, they tried). Venmo was absolutely no help at all, it took my bank a couple of weeks to recover the funds through legal channels. Bunch of crooks.

MANY thanks to Legion12, Kelama and yablanowitz for weighing in, Truly appreciated.
I will try to get in touch with Zelle, via telephone and maybe they can help me set up an account, without using/having a mobile phone.

Thanks again, guys.
Have a good night and stay safe, Joe.

You're bank may have Zelle so you wouldn't need the app .

Zelle is no different than f&f and Venmo. You’re warned when you do a Zelle transfer that it should only be used with friends and family.

Thank you All, Truly appreciated!
Since my bank does have Zelle, I'll give Zelle a call and ask how I go about opening an account.

I would actually ask someone at either at your local Bank for assistance, or call your Bank's customer service 800# and they can help navigate you adding Zelle online. I can't remember definitively, but I don't think I've ever had to contact anyone from Zelle when I added their service to my bank account, only a Chase Bank C.S. Rep.

I hope this works out well for you, as it has for me, Joe. Zelle isn't perfect, and I have no doubt, that Zelle will probably be a future target of this new "Build Back Better" clusterf%*k of an Administration. They will keep finding ways to steal our $$$.

I'm heading to the Beach right now, to try and catch a few 'tasty waves'....before Newsom find's a way to start taxing us for using our public/state Coastline...

FYI: The middle picture was taken back in 2020 during the 3 insanely long month lockdown, when nobody was allowed to park, watch a sunset, surf (a $1000 fine if you were caught and cited), or even take walk on the beach........ Surreal, dystopian times. I can't wait to see what 2024 has in store for us.

Kelama,
Thanks again for all of your help, it's VERY MUCH appreciated.
Greta picts., too...I especially like the top one!
I agree with what you said about the government and what's going on.
I'm surprised they haven't figured out a way to tax our dreams.
Come to find out they were wrong about so much of this covid crap.
I wonder just how much of this was intentional and how much was incompetence.

I hope you enjoy your day(s) in the sun and surf.
Stay safe, Buddy.
Later, Joe.

I use both Zelle and Venmo. I only use them on my home computer, and I go over everything about the transaction with a fine-toothed comb, which would be more difficult using a phone app. I feel more comfortable with Zelle, mainly because my bank's software asks me a million questions before I can go through with the transaction.

I don't feel 100% safe using any of these (or Paypal F&F) until I get a note back from the recipient telling me they have the money. The reason is simple: I typed in an incorrect email address using Paypal and sent $85 to someone I didn't know. They ignored my requests to have the money returned. The problem occurred because I started typing a name in the 'send to' field and Paypal used type-ahead to fill in a name for me that was very, very similar. I accepted it. My screw-up, but I learned and I'm triple-diligent now.

Another issue I've had is when someone gives me a slightly-incorrect email address for payment. So far I've been lucky and the sends have been fails, but if there had been an actual account tied to any of these, I would have ended up sending payments to someone I didn't know. This happened recently with an organization that should never have screwed up their Paypal address, but they did.

My pleasure. The thing that really bugs me about changes in the way we've been doing business as internet usage has progressed, is how we don't protect people whose thinking ability is digressing, or those who were limited in that area to start with. Things are set up for people with sharp minds to succeed, and even those people get screwed at times.

Jesus, sorry man...I meant great picts!
As for Zelle, I am going to call my bank on Monday to see if I can get an account going.
Has been a busy week and I kept putting it on the back burner.
So, Monday I'll find out what's going on.

Thanks for your interest and all of your help, TRULY appreciated!
Now go and enjoy those waves!
Have a great weekend, Joe.

Well...........I just contacted my bank's headquarters and they told me that they have Zelle, but I can open an account ONLY with a smartphone. They said I can't open an account on my PC, as I would need their app, to open an account and that's done with a smartphone. So, no Zelle for me, I guess. I never needed a mobile phone and I won't be getting one now, just so I can open a Zelle account.

Thanks to everyone who weighed in, it's appreciated.
Stay safe.

That seems odd. My bank has Zelle activities as part of their online software. You select an option for sending money, then choose Zelle. It will ask you questions to set you up. I thought my bank sucked, but I guess they do some things right.

^ I wouldn't be using Zelle, had my Bank given me this same type of response.

If it would help cheer you up Joe, I would be happy to post a couple more hot pics of Greta for you. LMAO!
Sorry- I couldn't resist throwing a little Greta humor at you....with your "Greta Gold" typo you threw out there.

I have to be honest, it was tough going cold turkey; making the decision to deactivate my account. But I didn't waver for a single second. I'm glad that there were enough of us, who had the balls to stand up, and tell PP: GO F*%K YOURSELF! Thankfully, there were enough of us who sent them a clear and concise message, that their new Woke TOS policy they intended on implementing, had it gone through, that there would be severe consequences regarding their customer base. Pathetic companies like PP, are what's wrong with this deterioration of this once great country.

What I find worse than PP, are the pathetic, weak people, who continue to support this WOKE company, simply because they don't want to be inconvenienced. F'ing weak people, without a pair......
