HI knife knuts,
I would like to see a zero grind on a CQC-7.Emerson. What do you think? Or on his HD-7.Why is the zero grind not very popular?
Thanks Lycosa.

because its a bitch to sharpen. its great for slicing people but thats about it, the cqc-7 is great the way it is, espeacially the hd version :)

it because it will require more individual attention per knife, and will drive the cost up. It is also more difficult to resharpen without a belt sander and/or buffer. But if you have handled Ernie's zero grind blades, you'll know that they are really very very sharp.

the ZBG has only 2 bevels vs 3 on a std CG.

really if ya dont mind scratching/scuffing the blade a ZBG is not hard to sharpen, certainly no harder than a std CG.

FWIW some of the emerson collectors knives, which are not customs, have a ZBG, the ECA P-Tac for one (the collectors assoc P-Tac not the std P-Tac).

i really dont see any reason they couldnt make a production w/a ZBG, its a really sharp edge made for SD but it would work for anything, might chip easier than a std CG though. i doubt he would though it seems more like something for his custom stuff imho.

i have 3 ZBG emersons, the ECA P-Tac, and a '6 and '8.

those ZBG persians (p-tac?) are freaking slice-a-licious!

it may not be easy to resharpen but without a belt sander, the scratch pattern would not look as nice.

zero grind is the same as scandi grind.
