Zero grind????????

i dont have a funtioning camera right now so no pics, but i do have 2 zero bevel grind emersons, a CQC8 and a ECA P-Tac, so i know a little about them, maybe someone could post some pics, or em me and i'll send ya a link to the emerson forum, no not EKI, cvettercr1@aol.com, they have tons of pics/comparison shots/etc.

all zero bevel grind blades are custom, the P-Tac is only a semi custom isuppose, but its not a production for sure. the ZBG is similar to the chisel grind but it does away with one of the bevels, rather than having 3 angles to the edge it has only 2, resulting in a very sharp edge albeit one imho not very suited to anything but self defense ie its not a good edc blade imho.

they are relativly easy to sharpen if ya dont mind scratching/scuffing the back of the blade, the only way to sharpen them w/out the scuffs is to send it to emerson AFAIK, oh ya could tape the back of ther blade but thats not really the right way to do it imho.

some other folks make ZBG knives ther than emerson, the cold steel spike is kinda a ZBG, some of the moras also were ZBG from what i've been told.

as far as cutting flesh imho the ZBG rocks.

Here is a picture of a zero grind (I think):

it is like a Scandi grind, but only on one side, so it is also a chisel grind.

You could sharpen it yourself (and sratch it up) and then refinish the blade yourself. But of course that require you know how to finish a blade and have the proper compounds and tools.

yep thats a ZBG.

like i said ya can sharpen yourself BUT it seems like it would hurt to scuff up a $1200 or so knife lol, esp when they will sharpen it so cheap, just depends on if it s a sure enough "user" or not.

I didn't mean to repeat what you said. I meant that while sharpening it will scratch it, it is not hard to remove the scratches by refinishing the blade if you are so inclined.

its not easy to remove the scratches either, i'd send it to ernie, really a ZBG isnt a utility knife so ya should only rarely have to sharpen the thing. they arent made for opening boxes/etc, they are for SD only.

If one has the means to finish a blade, it is easy.

What makes it hard is that not everyone has the means or the willingness to try.
