Zero Tolerance 0180: Great knife, Awful sheath

Anyone else that owns this knife find the sheath to be absurdly ill fitting? I love the knife, the ergos, the steel, so much so in fact that I spent the extra cash and m having a kydex sheath made for it. But am I wrong to expect a $220 production fixed blade to come with a passable sheath? For one the sheath is not deep enough to accommodate the full length of the blade. Besides that, the rest of the sheath is so ridiculously loose that the knife just flops around inside it. ZT did a great job designing the knife but must have completely phoned it in on the sheath. Is this the case with all the 0180 sheaths or did I get a bad one?

From what I have heard this is the biggest complaint regarding the 0180. I don't thing you are wrong to expect a decent sheath at $220. Heck my Bradford G3 only cost about $250 and that is with 2 sheaths (standard leather and an optional kydex).

Based on the short time I had a 0180, i completely agree with you!

As far as the sheath goes, the reason it fits so poorly is that it's just a standard off the shelf spec ops sheath....they all fit the knife poorly!

One option is to remove that screw on the bottom, remove that plastic and have a properly fit insert made for the 0180 - youll be good to go!

Thanks, I will give that a try!

Maybe ZT should pull a Busse and double the price and sell it without a sheath?

Ah, I anticipated a Busse-related response or two. The ZT is a quality blade, but I think many would make the argument that it is not on par with Busse, at least aesthetically and in terms of holding value for resale. Those are mostly irrelevant to me though.

If ZT DIDN'T include a sheath I would have at least known beforehand. As it stands, it really just seems like a waste of a nice Spec Ops sheath for a knife not intended for it. So, maybe ZT should have foregone the sheath altogether, or maybe they should have just, you know, included a sheath that fits? It just seems odd.

The Busse thing was tongue in cheek pretty much. I know when the 0180 came out, all the videos said they found the spec ops sheath fit. I personally don't have any experience with generic sheaths.

Well, in any case, the 0180 is a great knife, and the steel is tremendous. This will likely be the blade that gets me back into the ZT game, and the sheath is a small gripe.

Google "ZT 0180 Kydex Sheath" and you'll see an outfit that makes a high-quality kydex sheath for the ZT 0180. It comes highly recommended albeit at a price!
