Please Kershaw staff look here (post n° 41):

I love my 0301, excellent knife: great design & quality at an affordable price so 10 of 10:thumbup:
...but please add a retention hole on the blade, so even your customers, that like 100% manual folders, will be 100% happy with your excellent knives.

I know that there is the 200 model that is 100% manual, but I don't buy liner-locks after a bad experience (from an other company), I don't like/trust liner-locks.

Thanks for the attention:thumbup:

Are you talking about a detent in the blade?

Detent?

I am talking about the retention hole for the steel ball of the liner.

Please be patient, maybe these photos can explain the problem better than my English:

As you can see, there isn't the little hole on the blade.

You can see the hole that I' m talking about on my Alias (that has a perfect blade retention, a perfect balance: not too easy not to hard to open):

On my 0301 I have partially fixed the problem:

I drilled a hole (I do not suggest to drill your 0301, it will break the warranty & it is extremely hard to drill the hole in the exact position you need for the steel ball), my homemade hole works decently (the blade retention is better & it gives a good feeling), not as a hole made professionally by the manufactures, but it is better than nothing.

This problem there is only if you remove the Speedsafe, with the speedsafe you have no problems; it is more a limitation than a problem.

P.S.
For more photos & videos about my 0301, check my review (sorry it is in italian):

Interesting post, and the blade detent has been talked about here before, if I recall correctly.

My take on the matter is, well, that it IS a Speed Safe design, after all. By altering it, you are essentially customizing it, and it just seems to me that at that point, you incur the need to finish the job. It's not up to Kershaw to anticipate what you might want to do with the knife. Especially since they obviously designed it well...so well that you bought one, knowing it was a Speed Safe. Basically, your conversion from Speed Safe to manual is not complete until you create the blade detent.

I dunno, when I customize something (cars, bikes, knives, etc.), it never occurred to me to complain that the factory didn't magically divine what I was going to do in the future and make allowances for my particular instance.

I understand your point of view, my topic it is NOT a complaining topic, it is a suggestion  to improve the model, that is extremely good & I said clearly that the knife works perfectly with the speedsafe;)

I am not complaining about the ZT models or about Kershaw, the 0301 is an excellent knife, but IMO with a retention hole it will be better, so you can have the 0301 with & without the speedsafe.

I hope that I have explained the target of the topic better this time:)

I would be afraid that a sufficiently strong ball-detent would, when added to the torsion bar's retention, be too strong.
