Zero Tolerance 0301 or Emerson Super Commander?

Looking at either one of these for my next knife. I have no real intent/purpose/use for my next knife. This is just pure gluttonous want. Right now I'm leaning towards the 0301 because I love the blade design. Might end up just getting both. Arg. I am also debating if the Emerson I should be looking at. Super Commander? Super CQC-8?

I would have to say the 0301. Framelock better than liner lock, S30V is better than 154CM. I think the main thing Emerson knives have going for them is the wave feature, however ZT 0300 can be wave modded.

Don't say the frame lock is better so quickly. When you grip a frame lock knife hard it pushes on the lock bar which may cause wear. But I'd still go with the 301 even though I don't have one. I do have a mini commander and a ZT 0550 which is a frame lock. I personally like S30V better then 154cm. The stonewashed finish on the Emerson's rust easy with sweat on the blade.

Just get both, you're going to sometime anyway!

Depends how big your hands are. Supers are pretty massive. The 300 series is a ton of knife for the money though

I own both Emersons and ZTs, and I like Zero Tolerance knives a lot more when it comes to actual use. The steel is better (although 154CM is certainly good enough), fit and finish is better as well and I prefer the grind on ZT folders.

I'm not saying Emersons aren't good, they are.

I'd go ZT. But if you really just like the 0301 for the blade shape, the 0350, while smaller, and a g10 scaled liner lock, has the exact same blade shape and steel at A LOT lower price tag. The 0350 is a TON if knife for the money and you might just save enough cash to snag the Emerson as well.

Vote for ZT0301

For EDC it's way better than the Super Commander and better value for money.

Charlie Mike can wave the ZT if you want the feature

If you don't to customize your knife and want it only for SD then the Emerson would be better

I have a 302 and a Super CQC 8...302, no doubt. I might say that even 200 is better. The major advantage for Emerson is the wave, but in this case it's not enough.

No contest. ZT 301 all the way!

The 0200 or the smaller 0350 are also excellent choices, and are cheaper too...

The 0200 IS better (154cm 60 to 61 RC) vs Emerson (154cm 57 to 59 RC)

Yet costs 2 thirds the price of a Super Commander.

I have got Emerson Super Commander and I have got ZT 200 - I like ZT better. Super Commander feels huge, the handle sort of too flat and too wide to be comfortable for my hand (which is about average in my opinion), the recurve on the blade is far too prominent and the stock looks too thin... The issue here is that they have taken a regular size knife and just scaled it up instead of re-working and adjusting the design to make the knife more convenient and more proportional. So I agree with Allex: Super CQC 8 or CQC 8 (like that knife!) would be probably better (no ridiculous recurve) and ZT 200 would be better (though the handle shape is not quite ideal either: the bulge in the middle is far too prominent - if not for 3D I would have cut the handle myself to make it more suitable for regular chores). Can not say much about ZT 301 - do not own that one. But looking at the picture: it could be more comfortable than ZT 200... and the materials and 3D handle look great!
