I want to get my first ZT but I'm not sure which I want...

Sorry if this was asked before, I searched for "Zero tolerance 350 or 566" in the search bar and didn't find any results :o

The zt0350 is a hefty knife and s30v blade, it is also a liner lock. The zt0566 is smaller than the zt0560 and it has Elmax steel and is a frame lock. both great knives.

They're both assisted, both weigh about the same, both use great steel (ELMAX>S30V though), and they both have the same blade length. For me, I prefer my 0560 over my 0300 as a larger EDC. However, as a hard work knife the 0300 gets my vote. You can translate that to the 0566 and 0350.

Overall, the 0566 gets my vote because I like Hinderers designs.

Both great knives with similar specs. The wider and thicker handle on the 0350 is a bit more comfortable for extended use. The slimmer handle of the 0566 makes for much more comfortable carry.

I prefer the 0350 just because I have big hands and the 566 is a little small in my hands. That is just for me though. I have plenty of customers with big hands who love the 566. They are both great knives and either way you will not go wrong!

A few photos to help you in your decision making process:

I have had both and can't stand the 350, the same with the 550. In my opinion the 566 is close to perfect for me. The 350 and 550 were both far too bulky for me, don't be me wrong I love the 566 because of its heft and solid feel but, the handle on the 350 and 550 were too thick to be comfortable and the ergos just didn't fit my hand.

Thanks everyone for responding! I'm leaning toward the 350 right now since I have larger hands

Can either of them be de-assisted?

With the 0566, there was a recent run that didn't come with a detent, and couldn't be de-assisted as such. Not sure why that was, if it has changed, just thought I'd throw it out there.

Consider the variety available too. You can get the 350 in M390, for instance. I have generally liked frame locks over liner locks so I kept my 0566 and sold my 0350 (and 0360). Also FWIW I deassisted mine and did not like it. I put the assist back.

There are a lot of aftermarket customizations available for the 0566. Here is mine with a Cuscadi scale.

I liked the feel of the 350 in my hand better. You can get the 350 in CF m390. That is what I ended up getting and I like it a lot (and I don't mind assisted).
