Alright, how is the 0350 deassisted? I deassisted my kershaw blur and like it. Any blade play?

Also, is the black dlc coating worth leaving on? Or would you recommend I strip it off?

-Thanks

P.S. I originally put a similar thread in the maintenance sub forum, and got no answers after a week so I'm posting here instead, in hopes of getting more attention

I've heard different opinions on the de-assisted 0350, but the majority have all been positive. As long as you can find that sweet spot with the pivot, it should definitely lockup solid. It's a tank of a knife and I have been meaning to get one, just been getting some of the Sinkevich ZTs first.

As far as the coating, that's DLC coating from IonBond. It's pretty tough stuff and does a good job at fighting corrosion. I like the matte black finish. I saw a buddy on Instagram sand his off. It's your call, but it might require a little more elbow grease.

No comment on de-assisting it- some people like it, others don't. The knife will still function normally, it won't have any blade play if you tighten the pivot properly, but doing so might not result in acceptable flipping action. Your mileage may vary.

On the subject of the DLC coating, if you want a knife without it, get one of the stonewashed versions (0350SW/0350KW). The coating is exceptionally difficult to remove, and doing so is pretty much pointless given how easy it is to find an uncoated variant.

I got the black one for 75$ because my co-worker doesn't sharpen his knives. Otherwise I would have spent upwards of 100 dollars if not more. But if it's a tough coating I'll leave it on.

My tiger stripe coating hasn't scratched yet, if I buy another one I'll go with no coating though. Just really not digging the tiger stripe like I thought I would

I hear that, I live in an area where I rarely see people carrying knives, and everyone is very uneasy when I flick open my para 2, so I open it with two hands in public. Less threatening looking imo. But that also means that tiger stripe would be the epitome of tactical and basically the town would go crazy. That's unfortunate you couldnt get into it, i thought it looked really well done and badass

Gave my best bud a deassisted and hand rubbed blade, 0350. Had great action, he thrashed on it since 2011. Sadly he lost it last month.

I had a 0350 and deassisted it the detent wasn't the strongest. It worked, but not the the greatest, I don't know if it was because the blade is so heavy.

I de-assisted mine, and quickly put the torsion bar back in. It's not the fastest assisted opener, but IMO it's better assisted than de-assisted.

As far as the coating, ZT uses the best coating around. I have put my 0350 through all kinds of thrashing and the coating hasn't scratched at all.
