Okay, just got my 0350 from Kershawguy about an hour and a half ago. I've been planning to grind down the blade into a 0360 and have been preparing to do so for the past two days. Reason I call it the 0355 is because unlike the 0360, it does not have the glass breaker at the heel of the handle. Thus, it's not exactly a 0350 nor is it a 0360 so . . . 0355.

I was surprised at how quick it was to grind down a fair amount of the blade. I did take my time and intermittently dunked the blade into a bowl of ice water so the temperature never got high enough to affect the heat treatment. I was planning on having to re-stone wash the blade afterwards, but really didn't need to since I sufficiently taped of the exposed parts of the blade I didn't want scratched. Kind of didn't make any sense to re-stone wash just to hopefully get a finish on just the spine. I ended up going through the grits of sandpaper and now it is fairly smooth. I also ended up adding a small bevel. All in all I really like it and plan on adding a carbide tip glass breaker to the heel as soon as my tips come in the mail.

Anyways here she is:

what grit belt did you use, and at what speed were you grinding? I'm looking into getting a similar combo grinder for my mod work:-) Been wanting to convert a few spear point blades into clip point or bowies:cool:

Started at 80 grit then moved to 120 on the disc grinder (briefly just to make sure the edge was completely flat) then 240 by hand and finished with 600 and 800 grits. Whole process from tear down to re-assembly took about 45 minutes. I dipped the blade in the ice water after just about every pass I made on the belts.

I like it! You made it look just about factory. Good Job!

Nice! Would like to see the addition of the carbide tip too when you do it, have been wanting one on mine.
