Curious of peoples thoughts on these two knives. Ultimately, it's up to me to support who I want to support. I've owned ZT's in the past but I have nothing current with them. Never owned a WE and kind of steered clear since I generally go with American made but I'm kind of gravitating to the unique style of the WE.

Off topic, I have four Spyders and three Kershaws

Thanks

I do have the ZT 0450 and other knives by WE, but not that model.

The 0450 is a nice knife, light weight for its size, carries easy and though it's not a huge knife, it looks larger than it is when open. Probably because of the slender blade.
My particular knife has a heavy detent, it was worse when new, but has broken in over time. No other fit / finish issues.

WE makes a very good knife, you won't find any fit /finish issues, so it will come down to which knife is more aesthetically pleasing to you (or which fills a role for your needs)
If you like the style it won't disappoint.

I too prefer American made when I can, just that my income doesn't allow it. So my normal use actual edc knives I try to have American made, like my Griptilian and Bugout. Have a cheaper spec Kershaw Blur too. Have a bunch more in mind I'd like to add to my collection. However the Civivi Conspirator and Cogent from BladeHQ are piquing my interest, love the look on both of them and the price is right, especially with s35v.

As far as genuine American knives I would like to add to my collection, Mini Adamas in Magna, the classic 940 Osborne, Kershaw Livewire, the new Kershaw Belair. ZT 0562cf I definitely want in the collection, the industry I work in I get a pretty steep discount luckily. Definitely need some Spyderco in my collection as well. A bunch more, you know how it is

I really want a MT otf at some point but can't justify the $500+, there are some extremely high quality clones out there with real m390 imported from Austria though, for $180. And allegedly even better quality in some instances, most actually(specifically the Vespa brand clones) I can justify that, I could never justify $500+.

Anyway, you wouldn't be disappointed with either. WE does some amazing work, as does ZT. At the end of the day its just moneyyyyy :p

You can find Ultratechs all day for $250-$300

I love my CF0450, but it is pretty small, and large fingers will press on the lockbar, making it challenging to flip open with the tab.

The steel is spot on, as you'd expect from ZT. There are a bazillion knives for sale any more, good luck finding a new favorite.

I have a collection of 47 ZTs but no WEs.

I've owned one but I never liked the 0450 because it's "too small" for my taste. As a result, my collection includes seven (7) 0452s but no (0) 0450s.

The 0450 & 0452 are identical except for their size. So, if you like its size/styling, then buy it.

Don't know anything about the WE you mention. So, I have no opinion about it in comparison w/the 0450.

Tiny is the word to describe ZT0450 because this knife is much smaller than in almost all pictures.

Yea, it's like the small SHF. Way smaller than anticipated. Not a bad thing, just unexpected. My small SHF has grown on me considerably! Though out of the two, the 0452 stayed, and the 0450 went down the river.
