Is the recommended way to open a Zero Tolerance 0550 to push straight up on the thumb stud, just like an Umnumzaan? I am finding it a little difficult to open and I am making sure I am not putting pressure on the lockbar.

I was also wondering if there is a break-in period? I don't want to go adjusting the pivot unnecessarily. If I open the knife with two hands the blade moves without resistance. It is real smooth. My problem mainly is getting the blade to open past the detent, fi that makes sense.

That's how I open all of my one-handers. Push parallel to the handle and into the blade a little and it should fly out.

How is that flip done in that video? The first time the knife is opened? Never seen that before

I got mine in Saturday and have been opening and closing it all weekend. When I first got it out it was a little stiff but it seems to have gotten worked in and opens smooth and fast now.

Yeah, I really need to break it in a little bit. That will happen naturally anyway though.

Are you pushing against the frame with your fingers when trying to open the knife?

No, I am making sure I am not putting pressure on the frame. I am just not used to opening a frame lock, I guess. I'm right handed and with my fingers relaxed (not squeezing the frame for support) I am pushing straight up on the thumb stud (parallel to the handle). I'll keep practicing. Maybe I need to work it a little bit.

Here is a quick video showing what I'm doing. I think I have gotten the hang of it now. Thanks.

Yeah...mine doesn't open that easily. I am reluctant to adjust the pivot, but I may give it a shot.

How did you get the picture of the YouTube clip to show up in the thread? Instead of just the link like mine did.

Just keep practicing. Takes some figuring out but it becomes real easy. After 2 days of trying I am starting to get consistent with my thumb.. using the middle finger to flick it is easier for me because that's how I open my spydercos.
