I've been putting this off for a couple months...this is my second time writing this, and the first just wasn't up to snuff haha. :)

specs

action

The action is excellent, the 0801's blade is running on KVT bearings making it extremely smooth. The detent is perfect, it's quite strong but will still release easily when you use the flipper. Once past the detent it will almost fall closed with the weight of the blade, with a slight twitch it will close compleatly.

clip

Not much to say here, it rides nice in the pocket, my only complaint is it can sometimes catch on the screws. Not really a problem, though.

lock up

Mine's at about 30-40 percent. it has a stainless steel lock bar insert (which also acts as an over travel) so no sticky-ness. I've had mine for about five months now and the lock up moved to where it is now, and hasn't moved, noticeably, since. it is quite solid, I can't muscle any play up, down, left, or right.

ergonomics

Great in both the forward and reverse grip. If you use it really hard you might notice a small hot spot by the clip, though.

materials, construction, fit & finish

handles
The handles are solid titanium with decorative milling, length wise grooves and faux bolsters (that's how I would describe it anyway), and a coarse bead blast. The milling is crisp, and the bead blast is coarse enough that the handles don't scratch easily. in fact the only reason mine has any is because it wound up in the same pocket as my mini pry bar, heat treated O1 at 59 RC. :grumpy:

blade
The blade is made of heavily stone washed elmax. the stonewash ZT does on the 0801 is beautiful, it looks like a hazy mirror polish.

hardware
The 0801 uses stand offs and a deep carry clip. the hardware, stand offs as well, use a mat black finish. The pocket clip has a slightly more glossy finish. It does have some wear, but still looks relatively good. All the hardware except the pivot looks brand new, the pivot having only a few scratches. clip and body screws use a T6 torx, and the pivot is a T8.

general thoughts and things to consider

I received the 0801 from one of the old KAI sub-forum mods, "KAI corp." or just Gino. Don't know why, but I'm damn thankful.

Before my 0801 the most expensive knife I owned was a BenchMade mini onslaught, and while I am satisfied with all my other knives, the $200 price tag is justified. nothing major, but the action, lock up, F & F, and just the feel. You can tell that the quality is there.

I'm definitely going to expand upon this review, I haven't used the 0801 hard enough to really speak towards the performance of the steel. With that being said it cuts nicely and has held and edge through a few dozen apples, sharpening a lot of pencils, and weekly yard work / house work (small branches, duck tape, card board, etc). I've only lightly touched it up on a 600 grit stone and stopped it with mother mags aluminum polish on a homemade strop.

along with all my other EDC items

I think this knife is worth every penny,

I stole the specs off blade HQ,

If I messed anything up, tell me below. also, I took all the pictures a couple hours ago, apologies for the poor lighting. :o I'll try to take better ones when I get some good sun. If you have any picture requests, feel free to ask. :)

This will be revised later...grammar and such. ;)

Cheers,
Kirby

Nice stuff, K-dog. And very timely for me, as I am developing just a little bit of a man-crush on this knife.
