Zero Tolerance 200 vs. Spyderco Military or other tactical under $150?

I'm looking to buy a nice tactical folder with a roughly 4inch blade for under $150, but I'm having a tough time making a decision between the Zero Tolerance 200 and the Spyderco Military. I know that the ZT is a heavy duty knife whereas the Military isn't really, but if you were given a choice of one to carry for tactical purposes, which would you choose? Have there been any comparisons made between these knives in the past (I couldn't really find any). Is there a better tactical folder out there for around $150 or preferably less? I don't think weight will bother me too much, but does anyone know the overall thickness of both the Spyderco and the ZT?

I appreciate your help :D

Check out this youtube review my member nutnfancy, who discusses (in part) the defensive use of the Military. He has military and LEO experience and is generally well-regarded.

I own about 7 Militaries, and its an awesome knife. Big blade, thin profile for easy carry, large handle, big Spydie hole for easy opening. Love it.

Personally I love the Military. It is not a prybar though. High performance slicer though.

If you don't mind me asking, why do you own 7 of them?

But I mean 7 of them? I could understand 3 or 4 if you had them in different colors, but 7? lol

There are quite a few different versions of the Military, I'm not sure how many, but its definitely more than 3 or 4
And why criticize someone for owning 7 of the same knife? We are knife knuts here.

Back on topic, the BM 710 has about a 4 inch blade and the Endura 4 with the wave feature would be a good option, IMO

There was nothing critical in anything I said... Only teasing about having so many of the same kind.

There has been many different run's of the millie.

G-10/440v
CF/S30V
CF/BG42
CF/S90V
FG G-10/CPMD2
orange G-10/S30V
Digi G-10/S30V
Standard BLK G-10/S30V
LH millie

I'm probably missing something but those are just some of the different millies made over the years.

When I order one and am waiting on it, the pleasure neurons in my brain stem fire off repeatedly. Sort of like using heroine, except without the tooth loss, financial ruin, loss of family and incarceration.

What are you talking about? :D

I have both the Military and the ZT200. Both are top of the line products and for SD either would be sufficient. For stabbing and cutting I'd give the Military the edge, so to speak, with its flat grind and sharp tip. Its also lighter. I would not pry with it. The ZT is heavier and has outstanding liners. It is built to take a severe beating but the weight is a plus and a minus IMO.

You are kind of comparing two different types of weapons here. One is light and fast cutter. The other is a tank built to take punishment. Kind of like a broadsword vs a saber.

A better question is, what would fit you better?

That's what I've been trying to figure out...

What if I were to throw in an Emerson CQC-8 into the mix? You guys have any thoughts on that? I'm not sure how much I'd like the chisel grind, but for those who have experience with it, what do you think?

I had a Super CQC-7 and was not impressed at all with the F&F or the chisel grind. I hear the grinds are different on the CQC-8 though, chisel but both sides are beveled. If that makes any sense.

How thick is the ZT 200 in comparison to the Spyderco? I like the idea of having a less delicate knife, and weight isn't that much of an issue, but overall size/concealability might be... any input?

If your application is for defensive purposes, an Emerson is ideal, The wave feature allows near instantaneous opening and the chisel grind is probably the sharpest I have seen on any knife. If you want to enter a production Emerson in a beauty contest, best to look elsewhere. On the other hand, if it is a solid and reliable tool you are after, Emerson can provide.

As for multiple Millies, I have 2 Carbon Fiber BG-42, 2 Carbon Fiber S90V and 2 Forrest Green D2 millies. Why? Once you discover how tough, light weight and useful those knives are, you want to have a backup in case one is lost.

I mostly carry Emersons, but without question, a Spyderco Military is one of the finest knives made.
