I want a knife with ball bearings. Ive noticed alot of the zero tolerance knives have them. Which one would you pick or if you have another brand thats fine too what model. Thanks

I would pick the 0801 or the 0562, depending on what style you like. (Todd Rexford vs. Rick Hinderer designs.) Both are regular production knives, but the 0562 is a newer release and a little harder to find right now at a great price. I have the 0801 in my pocket right now. :)

My first ball bearing flipper was a ZT0560. If you don't mind carrying a larger folder that is a great option and my top suggestion. If you prefer smaller go for the 0801 or the 0562. There really isn't a bad folder in the lineup so I think you'll be happy with any of them.

Like Silvanus said, there's also the still available 0560/0561 which I like more than the 0562. Have the 0620 and 0561 for my EDC today.

All I have been collecting in recent years are bearing flippers. Of the production blades I have had I would recommend Brous blades (stonewashed or acid washed only as the satin finish is just so so), especially the T4. I would also look at Reate knives. Kizer also just started making some bearing pivot flippers with some very interesting handle and blade patterns. You also cant go wrong with a spyderco southard. As for ZT knives I will let those who are are more familiar with their current knives recommend models. I have had some of their bearing knives and they are not for me.

0801 is the best flipper on bearings zt makes in my opinion. Best action, best slicing and best point of all their bearing knifes

ZT 0777 is the best flipper from them in my opinion! You get what you pay for..

Ehh while the 0777 is amazing its hard to find and much more expensive while not having as nice of a point. For a knife I would actually carry and use I would still choose the 0801. I would also argue it flips better. Both of my 0801's flip better than my 0777

I'll also recommend the 0562 and 0801. I've owned the 0801 for 6 months or so now and was just gifted the 0562 the other day for my birthday!

The 0562 is a smidgen lighter and half an inch longer. The 0801 flips a tiny bit better. I have not had adequate time time to judge their cutting performance vs one another as I _just_ got the 0562

  • What's your budget for it?
  • What blade length range?
  • Weight a factor?

Happy belated bday, brother!

Dont know if mine is an anomoly but my 801 is alot stiffer than my 0562. The 0562cf is sooo glassy smooth and perfect detent. My 801 has a really strong detent and even when overcome is not nearly as smooth. Maybe i need to rotate bearings or somethin but thats just my experience.

Thanks! This year I was extreamly blessed by my family.

@the OP : If you specified a budget we could help you a little better  . Dollar for dollar, the price you can pick up a second hand 0801; nothing will beat it.

You know I forgot about the 454. I've never handled one so I can't speak intelligently on it. That said my price and availability argument come into play again. That said the 454 certainly looks cooler than just about any other zt knife
