Decided to make a video on the ZT 0801BRWCF. Part because I like testing my knives in that manner, and also in part because quite frankly there are no real ZT Limited Edition usage videos out there with actual proof of use. Some even feel proud about carrying their high end or limited edition knives and show one or two tiny scratches on the handle and a little pocket clip wear from handling.
I didn't actually want to do a video of it because I find most online communities to be very conservative about their hobbies, aka they don't want to see knives "abused" or used in any manner that may produce a failure or show a design flaw.
This thread is NOT for people looking to baby their knives (go to a show your knife threads if you want that). I want to see actual use. Not babying. Not letter or package opening. I want to see ACTUAL use, cutting game cutting a lot of cardboard, cutting rope, cutting plastics, zip ties, wires, etc.
This video is not real world use but I wanted to show the knife could handle it. The edge was reprofiled to 16 degrees per side, or under that. The tip was modified due to the uneven grinds from ZT so it could form a point.
End result: 2 points where the edge micronicked. The rest of the edge came back to past hair whittling sharp after a few passes on the 6k tape on the edge pro. Also the pivot screw loosened. I tightened it up and the lock up is back to where it should be with no blade play and extremely smooth. Strange because I've used loctite on it, I don't know why it loosened.

PS: I am not judging collectors. In the past I've used all my knives except two (one I sold way back, and the 2nd which I recently sold). I understand when you get a knife that you simply can't force yourself to use. I get it that for some people that may mean a $100, or a $200, or a $400, or a $3,000 knife. It's all good. Lets enjoy our time here and lets not start a debate over hard use or not.
