Zero Tolerance Sheaths is Black the only color?

Hello Jerry,

Just saw that the ZT sheaths are available and although I'd rather prefer your cordura/kydex lined sheaths with pouches if one has no choice the new Kydex sheaths are it, just have to find another $99.
Still it's a steal for 3 sheaths and also beats the price of having stiches put in your legs all the time from carying these ZT's without a sheath ;) .

One question, would it bepossible to get the sheaths made of Sand/tan colored kydex as I find that that makes a better color to go with the tan colored grips of the ZT knives?

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

For now, Black is the only color available. First Position is a new company and offers very little in the way of options.

Hey, man, spray paint 'em! And if you get bored, paint 'em another color! :D

I'm just glad the sheaths are finally up on the site for order. I just put in my order, so now I am eagerly awaiting the UPS truck for knives AND sheaths. Get here, get here, get here... :rolleyes:

I'm really looking forward to the arrival of my ZT set, and my set of ZT sheaths -- but NOT looking forward to explaining to my wife why I really need a Satin Jack. Women have this funny habit of taking money too seriously. Now, how will I accomplish this? :confused:

Happy slicing, dicing and chopping.

Lane

Thanks Jerry,

For the $33 a sheath who can complain about them being black, I won't it just would have been "nicer" (for me that is)

Lane, I'm not into spray painting ;) Kydex/Concealex seems to be available in tan/sand color.

I find that a brown/tan duct tape works well. From 100m no one can tell the difference... :D

Kydex is pretty slippery & painting can be ineffective. Apparently if you use MEK (methyl-ethyl-ketone) mixed in with paint through an airgun, it will work. The MEK breaks down the surface of the kydex enough for the paint to "grab". I have NOT done this, but it is info from another thread here on BF, which I can't find just now. Also, the ratio of MEK : Paint was not given.

For those who may want to take a shot at making their own sheaths, there are a threads about it in the Shop Talk Forum, including this incredibly informative one from the Shop Talk Archives: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=108946 This thread tells you EVERYTHING you'll need to know for making kydex sheaths and more.

For sheath materials, here's a cross-post of info from the SH II E vs SH II thread:
For paracord at cheap prices check these guys out. Available in 550 and 1000 pound strengths in 50 and 100 foot lengths. Search for the word "cord" on the site.
http://www.capsupply.com/shop/enter.html

550 = $5/100' (white, olive, red, black)
1000 = $3.50/50', $6.50/100' (white & olive only)

Check out the links on this page for knife- and sheath-making supplies, including Concealex & Kydex. This page also has sheath making instructions on it. http://www.cancom.net/~hnilica/miscellaneous.html

Texas Knifemakers Supply carries lots of materials for the trade. http://www.texasknife.com/TKS_Mainframe.htm

(Kleerdex is the mfr of Kydex & this is their site. Lots of colors shown here for kydex.) For kydex, this website looks very extensive, but probably at commercial quantities. http://www.kydex.com/us/index.html

Yours in nu-kydex mods,
Greg

Here I was only kidding about the spray paint, and RokJok tells us how to actually do it! Cool. I'll remember that. :D
