ZT is a KAI brand (read: Kershaw) that has been around for a few years. They make a tremendous product at one heck of a pice point. Most of the early designs (0400, 0200, 0300, 0100....) were Ken Onion or Ken Onion/Strider designs for the fixed and folders. There are also a Galyean designed dagger and automatic, and a Hawk designed auto. A large portion of the newer stuff is done from in-house designs. The materials, ergonomics and warranty are all first rate.

Although I have never been a huge fan of the 0400 blade shape or the grip insert into the handle, the 0400 is a fine knife and very similar to the Kershaw Blur in mechanical execution. You can often find the 0400 at a very fair price b/c it didn't seem particularly popular (polarizing design), but, it is a fine knife that will serve you well. I would recommend the 0200 for, in my opinion, the all around ZT experience (price, materials, performance), but, different strokes for different folks.

Keep an eye out for some of the newer designs. There are several that have recently dropped or will in the very near future, and, there is a little something for everyone in that mix from both price and style standpoints.

+1 well said

thanks for the info i appreciate it ive always been a fan of kershaw knives and when i messed around with the 0400st i wanted it the feel of it in my hands was perfect.

KAI / Zero Tolerance makes great knives - I own the 0200 and 0500, and owned and sold my 0301.

I have a 0550 coming.

A lot of value and toughness for your dollar.

The 0400 jumped out at me, too, when I was just starting. Now, it's the folder I'd least want in their lineup. I'd recommend you look at the 0200 and 0350 instead; they don't cost any more. And the 0550 is very nice, although it does cost more.

Also, keep in mind that Zero Tolerance (which is basically Kershaw) carries Kershaw's warranty, which is the best in the business. To me, that's a highly compelling reason to look at their knives.

I edc a ZT 0200 and couldnt be happer with it.very tough knife ,good steel and a great handle..also own a 0300 but prefer the blade shape of the 0200....you wont be disappointed.....FES

ZT makes good knives and if the 0400 fits perfectly in your hand, you have a winner.

I have an 0400ST and it's a great knife. It's also pretty comfortable to clip on/off your pockets with less abrasive wear on your pants than some of the other ZT folders. I also like its blade better than most of the other American tanto blades I've used. I would have preferred its blade to be a recurved drop point, and for the handle insert to be G-10, but it works well enough as is. Now, if I wanted a ZT model as an outdoors knife, I would prefer the 0200, personally.

I have the 0400 and I love it. I think I am the exception because I like tanto blades. The knife is absolutely solid in every way. Flow though design is nice for the sake of cleaning. The liner lock is very strong and inspires confidence during use. Effective flipper and nice thumbstuds allow easy and quick opening. Super sharp right out of the box with a great warranty.

thanks everyone for the information i just picked up the 0400st today and man that thing slices through anything like butter and it fits comfortably in my hand and pocket i was a little skeptical about the tanto blade but doesnt bother me at all.

thanks again
