Anyone heard of these guys? Theyre selling a line of kitchen knives, some of them damascus laminated, on amazon for as little as 55$ for a 12inch vg10 chef...this sounds impossible to me, so im wondering if anyone is familiar with their products. Are they a bargain or a scam?

Why would they produce a VG-10 core clad with carbon steel instead of some carbon steel core clad with 420...? That just doesn't make sense.

I think they mean high carbon vs low carbon. Most likely a low cost high carbon stainless steel. I have read it worded like that on non-US sites.

I decided to try them out, just bought one of their 3.5" fruit knife, was only $15 shipped for the VG-10 San Mai. I just got it today, I can see the laminate/san mai line. It came barely sharp enough to shave hair, after 5 minutes on the sharp maker it was shaving sharp, seemed to sharpen up easy, its fairly thin 2mm, slightly flexible. The handle is just plastic and rubber, but feels solid for what it is, doesn't seem like its going to slide off or anything. I plan on doing some edge retention tests later when I have time, since for the price it doesn't seem like they could offer VG-10 this cheap.

I never heard about this brand, but I saw in IKEA chef's knife blade marked VG10 with Damascus $50, made in China so.

After reading this thread I ordered the 5in and the 4in. They both came sharp enough to cut paper but they definitely needed some work with the edge pro to get even on both sides and shaving sharp. For the price though you really cant argue. Im sure they will hold up great even if not properly cared for.
