Zing Question

Should be easy enough to make some. I haven't tried yet, but I dont forsee a problem. You might contact rival or kryptoglow around the forum.

I saw a Zing with blue Kryptoglow scales for sale over at CanadianGunnutz. So I'm going to say Kryptoglow!

The Zing is a fantastic EDC. I am so sorry that the US made one is discontinued now. I have been making some scales for mine, but it is hard - the tolerances have to be so tight to achieve something that would meet the finish of the originals. Bad_juju, how can you say it should be easy?

I just bought a 1735T blem and a 1735TBLK (limited edition) from kershawguy. The BLK was alright although the blade wasn't centered very well and it took me quite awhile to get everything adjusted. (I should add that it came centered well enough but got thrown off somehow.) It also can't be flipped open very easily. Might be that the finish on the blade causes too much friction? Ironically the blem was *perfect." It actually felt like the ZT561 I just bought, with a tough little detente that was like a magnet. Just enough resistance that you could easily flip it open, so I bought a second one. I will probably use the blems for EDC in Washington, DC because the law there is a little ambiguous regarding the speedsafe mechanism and there's also a 3-inch blade limit on the statute books. I guess I"ll also use my Leek S30V G10, but again not sure about the speedsafe on it.

It would be great to replace the scales though. That nylon stuff looks and feels flimsy.

The OD Zing uses G10 scales. I got one of those from kershawguy to do a blade swap, so now I've got a grooved blade in green G10 handles. :) Some people don't care for the look/feel of FRN, but it's a good handle material - lightweight and very tough.

I say it because it should be. I haven't had the chance or the want to make them for mine, because I like the od ones I swapped out just like flarp did. The hardest part would be the hex on the back scale. When I get the chance, I might try to make some out of blue black g10 just to show you (just messing around with you)!

Those OD G10 scales look great. Only issue for me being I can't get the pivot loose on my Zing. No problem removing the scale screws, but the pivot feels super-glued. Tried heating it up with a hair-dryer to no avail. Very frustrating.

Sorry to hear that, if you have a soldering iron I'd try that next.
