Is there any chance the Zing might be made without grooves?

Anybody else interested?

Isnt that the new od-1?

No, the OD-1 is a completely different knife designed by a completely different designer. All of RJ Martin's knives made by Kershaw have the grooved blade. It's his signature look, so to speak, and I don't see it changing any time soon.

I don't see that happening.

Sorry to hear..... :( I don't see that I could possibly like the grooves or find any benifit. :thumbdn: ..... otherwise, I really like the look of the Zing blade shape and handle. The handle looks both versatile and comfortable while allowing an "in-close" grip to the blade. And the Blade shape is about as close to ideal for task and chore use IMO with a shallow edge belly.

I would vote for a FLAT grind as well.

It wouldn't be a Zing then, would it?

Fine..... call it something else..... ;)

That's what I was thinking. I suspect RJ would have a bit of a problem with making it w/o the striations.

Hmmmmm..... maybe with Kershaw, but most of the RJ Martin knives I have seen (by a large margin) do NOT have grooves/striations. So, I don't really see why there should be any problem with offering a Zing (or called something else  ) without grooves/striations.... It would LIKELY sell better. I would think Kershaw and Martin would BOTH want improved sales.

True, but, the Zing and Groove both had them, and those are the ones Kershaw picked up. Maybe the next design they pick up won't have them.

Spot on, SA.

I'd say it would be a good bet we'll be seeing a lot
more RJ/Kershaw collaborations.
