Ok folks,
Who has a Zing and how do you like it? They look pretty cool in the pics I have seen. Just wondering who has hands on experience with them.
All the best

Absolutely love them. Great RJ collab. Honestly one of the smoothest Kershaws I own. Flies out with the flipper really nicely. My favorite little knife by a lot. Get the US made ones while you still can.

That's an impressive display you have!! I found a USA made one and ordered it yesterday. Probably won't ship till tomorrow. Pretty anxious to get my hands on it!

Fundamentally a great knife!

I have both the 1735OR and 1735T and both are extremely smooth however I wish they had a bit stronger detent so they flipped with authority; sometimes you can accidentally not opening these if you don't do it 100% proper. That being said they are A LOT like the Skyline but they have the benefit of having the super-awesome-Blur-style thumb studs which makes it have secondary opening method. Instead of having G10 they have a injected molded plastic.

Don't get me wrong, I love these knives I just wish the detent was a bit stronger, and possibly upgraded to G10.... I'd pay double for what they ask for this way. Who knows though, maybe i'm crazy!

You must have a lemon dedrok. The striated ones I have owned all flip awesome because of the strong detent. The tantos have had what I would call normal detent. They still flip well though, just a bit like a skyline in that respect. I currently only have 1( franken zing), its the reg 1735 with the green scales. I love it and would like to pick up a groove to match it.

Thanks a bunch. They are great little knives. Dave(KershawGuy.com) has the black/black tanto on his site for a very good price. Hope you like it.

Tanto Groove?????

I had one and loved it. I lost it at work a while ago and need to get another one soon.

Will they be producing them overseas soon?

Check Kershawguy.com. He has the black/black tanto on sale. The zing ss is made overseas, but not quite the same as the original.

I have a couple of tanto Zings, one with the black blade and a blem with the bead blast. They both flip better than any other knife I have. In fact, the only knife that flips better is the ZT0600 which is also an RJ Martin design (but I only had it briefly because I got it as a gift). I'm pretty sure kershawguy still has the black blade tanto LEs, but he may have sold out on the blems. Check his site.

Have an orange zing with grooved blade that I used as my main edc for a long time (orange handle started to turn black almost). It took quite a few new purchases and a realization that more traditional looking knives are more easily accepted at work in order to find something that kicked it out of regular edc rotation during the work week. Now it's a good friend I turn to regularly on weekends.

It's a great design and good size EDC blade. Fairly stiff detent on mine, which launches the blade as fast as an assisted opener. The thumb studs are similar to those on the Blur, but smaller. I ended up swapping my grooved blade onto the green G10 handles.

I really like that fluted one, although I understand the grooves make it a bit more susceptible to rust and corrosion. I wonder what the story is behind that. Did RJ make any fluted customs?

I have one of those USA-made real groovy blade ones. Cool looking. The flipper has a weak detent on mine but opens fairly well when the blade is pointing down or horizontal but not when pointing up.
