I just got a Zippo (my first--got the rainbow spectrum model to match my Leek), and I'm wondering how long before the wick and the flint will need to be replaced. Also, does anyone know how long it'll burn on a single fill? I don't mean "I refill it every 2 weeks", but like how long it'll continously burn on a fill. I could check myself, but I don't want to burn the house down or make the lighter explode. Just wondering if someone has already tried it.

Flint last for ages. Wick as long as you dont light it when it's low on fuel i.e so its the fuel on wick thats burning rather than the wick, then months or years, cleaning wick with cotton bud & L-fluid aslso a good idea.

continuos burn...15-20 min?

I refil every week at least, due to evaporation as well as using the fuel.

I used to keep extra flints under the cotton. Never had to replace a wick.

Wicks are cheap and they last for a really long time. I probably went through .25 of a inch in 2 months, the wicks are 4.5 inches in length, a wick would probably last about 2 years.

I probably got about 20 minutes of continous burn as well, the only problem was that the lighter itself would get mildly hot after this long (probably around 10 minutes). And in Phoenix weather with the heat and whatnot, I re-filled it every week.

I normally keep an extra flint and wick inside my wallet.
