I'm just looking to compare notes with other ZT owners about the retention on their sheaths. I currently have three pieces from them, and two of the sheaths have rock solid lockup with a definitive click in and out. Unfortunately my third blade's sheath is disappointing. It's a D'Capitan Companion, and retention consists of two weak wimpy semi-clicks that do not add up to one good click. Given the weight of this thing, I don't really trust it to stay put during any activity more jarring than a brisk walk.

Has anyone else here ever had retention issues with a D'Capitan sheath, or any other ZT sheaths for that matter? I love the blade itself, and given the quality of my other two purchases, I find it hard to believe their kydex game is weak or inconsistent. Is there an inherent issue with the D'Capitan shape that makes it difficult to design a good lockup? Did mine just slip through the cracks on the QC?

I own a sharkalope and one of the reapers, and both sheaths are fine. The reaper is maybe a bit weaker than the sharkalope due to the weirder handle shape but thats about all i can tell. Love that d'captain though, ive been looking at it for a few years now without pulling the trigger.

You could send it back to them for repair, or look for a local kydex pro, or if you can see the retention dimples and you have a heat gun you could soften them (not too much heat!) and then press them in a bit further while the blade is sheathed.

I stopped by their booth a few years back, and that d'captain was pretty nimble!
