Hey all-

I posted this over at Spyderco's site as well, so I apologize for the repeat.

I've come across a few Zowada models for sale in plain edge, but they are listed as having AUS-8 steel. I *thought* I heard that no plain edge versions were done in AUS-8..and I've seen about a bazillion of them with serrations.

Now, the Spyderco Store shows a plain edge Zowada in VG-10. When did the switch happen, and are all plain edge Zowadas VG-10? I know only the plain edge model is in the line-up for '02 but were there ever any plain edge AUS-8 models made?

Thanks!

The Zowada switch is new for 2002. Spyderco never gives precise dates per se.

The new Zowada is VG-10, has dual stainless liners, and plain edge. The pre-2002 version in AUS-8 was shipped only in partially serrated versions.

The only thing I don't like about this knife is that the bead-blast black micarta is a sort of dull charcoal color. While this improves the grip slightly, I prefer the micarta in the polished state.
