Who here has the Tim Zowada model?
How do you like it and how does it perform?
Would you consider it a light, medium, or heavy-duty type of knife?

It seems like a real classy knife but you don't hear much about it on the forums.

Thanks,
Allen.

Allen: I have a plain edge Zowanda. I have used it for light - heavy duty. It is light, not too obvious, low vis in dressy clothes and cuts very well. I had my doubts at the beginning but now I swear by it.
It has a fancy look, like you said, but don't let that overwhelm your decision. You will not regret having one.

Hope this helps,
Doug

allenC, I have the older version Zowada. Imo, it is a light-duty knife because of its narrow point. It fits my hand nicely and is above average in carry comfort. The ss liner lock tab tends to swing far over to the opposite side micarta handle on hard openings (this may have been corrected on the recent upgrade with the VG-10 blade--I haven't seen one so I don't know for sure).

The blade design is not for everyone. Without a noticeable belly, it's obvious the Zowada was designed for penetrating--not slicing. (In actual use I could easily slice up pizza but not without also cutting up the cardboard underneath it). I suppose that's just fine for some users and, in that regard, the Zowada is a compact, lightweight, fast-opening, and cost-effective tool.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm considering the Zowada or the Viele as my next Spyderco. I like them both but I hav'nt handled either of them enough to make a sure decision.
Next week I'll scout out some local knife shops and see if I can compare the two side-by-side.

Thanks again,
Allen.

allenC, if I had to choose between the Viele or Zowada, I'd definitely take the Viele. It's more versatile (due to blade design) and dressier than the Zowada, and it is sneaky tactical. Make sure you get the newer VG-10 blade updated model.
