anyone USE a ZT0100? i mean actually have one AND put it through some work. not talking about abuse, just real work. i'm pretty convinced that i need one of these knives, so convinced that i'm ready to start selling off some other knives. i just have two questions about it and one of them can only be answered by people who have truly used theirs.

(1) the coating. i understand that it is a 2 layered coating with the top layer being DLC, but how good is it? i ask because i've had a lot of coated knives, but on two of them the coating truly sucked and one of those had a double layered coating. the top layer flaked off in big pieces, the bottom layer stayed forever, but it still looked horrible the way the top layer flaked off. so, how is the coating on the ZT 0100? is it there to stay?

(2) ergos? looking at it, it looks like it is contoured and not blocky with flat scales the way so many other knives seem to be these days. is this the case? does it have a nice comfortable round feel to it?

thanks :)

Zignal, I've got one. Most comfortable knife that I've had the pleasure to own. It's 3-dimensionally CNC'd with the perfect amount of thumb swell w/ thumb ramp. You'd have to hold one just to know what I mean. Haven't found a knife that beats it in ergos.

As far as the coating goes - it's DLC - Rc in the 80's. It's very tough - you wouldn't get it scratched off with just wood - you'd have to go at some aluminum siding in order to start to see marks.

I'm going to get mine convexed by RichardJ as soon as I can get the post office.

i appreciate the feedback, thanks. so... how much of a whoopin do you think a tight kydex sheath could put on the coating? i don't make em tight, i use painters tape on the blades before i press the sheath, but just so i have an idea. you think the friction of kydex could wear the coating? simply being drawn and sheathed from kydex straight raped the coating on my Nimravus. batoning wood removed the coating form my Ontario SP42. i'm just a little scared because the knife is expensive, i'd like it to stay looking nice even though i use it. my Rodent, ESEE 5, and Recon Tanto all still have their coating intact and have all been used. i just wanna make sure the ZT is in that boat and not more like the Nimravus or the Ontario SP.

DLC laughs at kydex. If you ever get some slight marks on your DLC, you more than likely can clean it up with a no-scratch brush w/ soapy water (followed by oil for 3V).
