I've become more interested in knives, and used the forum into the past to look into knives I'm interested in. I have a few folders, crkt-m16, small spyderco and newer large resilience spyderco. Then a fixed bear grylls (yea yea yea), ontario and now
I bought my first higher quality steel fixed. A zero tolerance 0121 4.25in fixed blade with sv30 steel. I wanted something I could strap to the front of my hiking pack that could be versatile if I carried only a single knife on hikes. Something that didnt look too tacticool that scared away other California hikers, or scared them into calling authorities to inform them I am following the rules but look scary.
I love this knife so far. Its sharp, I haven't put it through test other than slicing a piece of paper on the table when I opened the box. First impressions, it is a little heavy for a smaller knife, but feels very sturdy. I saw complaints that the handle is small, but I really like it, big enough for a strong grip, but small enough to keep it tight in space. It's shape makes it very easy to hold, and I feel it will be greta for any defense situations, or survival instances of cutting/light chopping. The sheath is perfect, holds the knife well and has an extra strap to secure the knife. I'll be having it tip up while strapped and it's pretty easy and instinctive to remove. The MSRP is really high, close to $300, but there were deals once it was discontinued as low as $120 that I saw, but because of limited quantities, the price varies dramatically. I bought for $140 "used", it was never used, just opened. It fits extremely well in hand and on my pack.
